I always assume that my pictures do a lot of the talking in this blog, but many of you don’t know who the girl is behind the lens. So I’ve decided to make a list of things that help give you a clearer picture.
1. I am a collection of people who’s had influence on me; my family, friends, experiences. I’d rather not assign myself a label of who I am, because it seems counterintuitive. That being said, I’m more of a hippie than I’d like to admit. My idea of a perfect night is good company gathered in front of a fireplace, while listening to my step dad’s records. Or better yet—having a good friend play acoustic guitar.
2. I love farmers markets, hand made crafts, astrology, kayaking, painting, good conversation, and Neil Young.
3. My life revolves around vibes. My goal is to chase the good ones.
4. I LOVE antiques—especially the process of finding pieces that speak to you and finding inspiration in them. I love how each piece you find tells a story.
5. I love adventures and being spontaneous.
6. Documentaries are becoming my favorite genre of movie to watch.
7. I love my boyfriend Mike, and his incessant need to see me smile. He knows the perfect recipe for making me laugh, no matter what my mood. He’s currently in Ethiopia serving the Peace Corps, and he makes me more proud every day. He is so supportive of anything I do and he never lets me forget who I am. He is my best friend.
8. Traveling is my newest passion—especially after my month-long backpacking trip to Europe last summer with Mike. My checklist of new places I want to see keeps growing.
Simply stating that “photography is my passion” doesn’t even begin to describe my relationship with it. It seems to do the opposite because anyone who loves photography would say the same thing. What I love most about photography is the artistic flexibility. I love how it acts as a visual diary of life and freezes a moment in time—through the eyes of the artist. It truly is so much more than simply pressing a shutter. It’s capturing emotion, a feeling, a fleeting second in the huge expanse of time. I love how I learn something new about it everyday.
So… that’s me in a nutshell. Hippie? Maybe. Or as many of my friends say, “a free spirit.” I won’t argue with that.
My puppies are some of my greatest friends. Their love and devotion is so sincere and unconditional.
I love crafts! I would buy out Papersource if I could. I could stamp and cut and paste all day if you let me. Hand-making my ‘thank you’ cards to my clients means a lot to me.My favorite piece of antique furniture! Her name is Brenda. I got her from this adorable antique shop in a nearby town and she loves having her picture taken :p and yes….I name all of my most prized inanimate possessions.
